Laser Hair Removal

If you’re not happy with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted hairlaser hair removal may be an option worth considering.

Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures in the U.S. It beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorbs the light. That destroys the hair.

Six Reasons Why Laser Hair Removal Is the Best Method

9

It's Quick

If it’s a quick solution you’re searching for, laser hair removal is the fastest way to get rid of unwanted hair.  Treatments average just under 30 minutes.

Less painful than other methods

In most cases, laser hair removal causes minimal pain, especially when you compare it to other treatments like waxing.  The lasers had a cooling mechanism that blast cool air right where the laser was pointing at your skin.

It's Precise

Laser technology is incredibly precise, making laser hair removal ideal for people looking to target and remove a few specific hairs.

This makes it a great option, even if you’re looking to remove small areas of hair from around the eyebrows, upper lip, nose, bikini line, or hairline.

It Prevents Ingrown Hairs

Shaving, waxing, and other methods of hair removal can cause ingrown hairs. If you’re prone to ingrown hairs, laser hair removal is an excellent option.

By destroying the hair at the root, you’ll never have to worry about those pesky hairs growing back in or curling back into the body and becoming ingrown.

It Saves You From Having to Endure Regrowth

Some methods, such as waxing and plucking, require that you endure a bit of regrowth in between sessions. With laser hair removal, you can enjoy smooth, hair-free skin at all times.

It’s a Long-Term Solution

Most people see permanent, lasting results with laser hair removal. In some cases, you may need a touch-up a few months or years down the line, but it remains one of the best long-term solutions available.

Can we remove hair permanently by laser?

Laser hair removal works by heating the hair follicles to stop new hairs from growing. This puts the hair follicles in a state of dormancy for a long period of time — much longer than with shaving and waxing. When the hairs do grow back, they’ll be lighter, finer, and fewer in number.

Although the procedure is often touted as a form of “permanent” hair removal, laser treatment only reduces the number of unwanted hairs in a given area. It doesn’t get rid of unwanted hair completely, still one of the best options for slowing hair growth over an extended period of time.

Are 3 sessions enough for laser hair removal?

The standard time between appointments is four to six weeks. And it usually takes five to six sessions to achieve satisfactory hair reduction. What happens with some clinics that advertise two or three sessions (treatments) is that a few months later hair will all grow back.  According to the Mayo Clinic, most people need about six laser therapy sessions.

While consistency is the key (you have to repetitively traumatize the follicle), six sessions should be enough for most.

How successful is laser hair removal

Laser hair removal eliminates at least 90% of hair growth. Instead of only removing the hair – as with shaving or waxing – the laser heats up the hair follicles, rendering them inactive and unable to grow hair.

Can men get laser hair removal

Yes, laser hair removal is plenty common in men.  Laser hair removal is appealing for men who are uncomfortable with excess hair on their back, chest, stomach, or all over.  It helps men feel more confident in their skin.

One of the most popular areas is guys’ mugs. A lot of guys want to have less hair to make shaving easier, especially if they get ingrown hairs on their neck. Laser is the only way to effectively treat a condition called PFD, pseudofolliculitis barbae; clusters of inflamed, red, or dark bumps will appear around hair follicles from shaving. Essentially, they’re ingrown hairs that grow in all sorts of directions, which can leave scars.

Even after two sessions, the ingrown can disappear, and the skin comes back to its natural condition.

Which areas can be treated

Laser removal can be done on the following parts of the body. You can even get those little tufts of hair on your toes removed! The only area that cannot receive treatment is the eyebrows. Lasers are not safe to use in such close proximity to the eyes.

Legs

Arms

Underarms

Face

Bikini line

Chest

Back

Scalp

Things you need to know before having the treatment

Sounds painful, but isn't

In most cases, laser hair removal causes minimal pain, especially when you compare it to other treatments like waxing.  The lasers had a cooling mechanism that blast cool air right where the laser was pointing at your skin.

Patience pays off

Clients may find hair to appear finer and less noticeable after one treatment but a course of treatments is essential to see optimal results.  You have to repetitively traumatize the follicle; consistency is the key.

It's a pretty fast process

You can go in and out of your session appointment as fast as 15 minutes.  This depends on the size of the area treated.  Small areas can be done in 10 to 15 minutes, while large and x-large areas can take about 35 minutes.

Multiple benefits

Aside from clearer, smoother skin, and permanent hair reduction, laser hair removal also boasts benefits including helping to reduce ingrowing hairs and less irritation of the skin. This is because the treatment encourages hair to grow straight.

Works on all skin tones

Laser hair removal is for women and men, teenagers to older patients.  And it’s safe for treating pigmented or darker skin tones, including Asian and African American sink.  The hair just needs to be dark enough to draw the laser of our Gentle YAG laser machine.
